Week 12: Weekly Blog Post 8

Jaiden O’Brien   Sean Brennan   FMX 210-3   November 19, 2024     From last week to this week, I have come to complete the final part of this digital collage. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been steadily working through the assignments and meeting deadlines, all while taking feedback from the last class into account. After reviewing the suggestions, I adjusted to improve my images, layout, and overall composition to make sure my collage is as effective as possible, especially now that I’m transitioning to a new 10”x10” layout. The next step was to create a new Photoshop file sized at 10" W x 10" H. I started by opening my previous 8”x8” PSD file that I had used for earlier versions of the collage. Then, I adjusted the Canvas Size to 10” x 10” through the Image menu, making sure my collage now fit the new dimensions. After resizing, I saved the new file with a revised name—changing both the size designation from 8x8 to 10x10 and updating the name from Coll...

Week 11: Weekly Blog Post 7

Jaiden O’Brien   Sean Brennan   FMX 210-3   November 12, 2024   This week, we continued working on the progress of the digital   collage project. We have been given tips for creating strong collage layouts along with a guide to phase five deliverables. As we moved into p hase five of the digital collage project, it has become time to start sketching potential layouts for the  final composition. This phase is crucial because it allows you to experiment with the arrangement of your images before you dive into the digital assembly. By visualizing the collage in sketch form, it allows you   to explore different ways to position elements and create a more compelling final piece. We   had to submit eight sketches that explore different layout options for our digital collage. These sketches were  arranged on a provided 11x17 PDF template, with each of the eight boxes on the template standing for a different variation of the ...

Week 10: Weekly Blog Post 6

Jaiden O’Brien   Sean Brennan   FMX 210-3   November 6, 2024   This week, we started working with Adobe Photoshop on a new project, and I was initially a bit scared about it. Before this, I didn’t have  any experience with Photoshop, so I wasn’t sure what to expect or know what I was getting into . However, after diving into the project, I’ve realized that Photoshop is surprisingly  user-friendly—at least for the tasks we've been doing so far.   For this project, we were asked to choose eight topics that interest us, and then narrow it down to five that we’d focus on. My topics are the  Boston Bruins, travel, Florence, music, and food. Once we had our topics, we then had  to find two high-resolution images for each one. The challenge here was finding images that were both large enough and clear enough, because smaller images can become pixelated when you try to enlarge them. It took some trial and error to get the right ones, ...
